If we keep searching for ways to make life easier, we’ll be disappointed. It’s no secret that life can be full of challenging times & difficult seasons, but what do we do when difficult seasons seem to last longer than we anticipated they would? Rather than looking for the easy way out of these challenging seasons, we need to shift our focus from looking at the daily struggles as problems to be solved and instead embrace them as opportunities to learn, grow, & find moments of joy in each day. In today’s blog post, I’m sharing 3 ways to stop looking for the easy way out & how to embrace moments of joy during difficult seasons instead.
How to Find Joy During Difficult Seasons of Life (& Stop Looking for the Easy Way Out)
Secret Key #1
The first tip to navigating a difficult season in life is to constantly ask yourself questions to find out what makes you tick, what your daily pain points are, and most importantly, where you find your joy. Start by making a daily list of all the things that brought you joy throughout the day before you go to bed each night this week. For example, these daily things could be something as simple as drinking your warm tea first thing in the morning or kissing your spouse goodnight.
Secret Key #2
Once you find your joy - what drives you - you can structure your days around it. After you’ve brought awareness to the little things that bring you joy throughout the week, you’ll be able to create opportunities for more of these moments in your daily routine. For example, if you enjoy slowly savoring your morning cup of tea, try getting up ten minutes earlier so you have time to enjoy your tea while it’s still warm.
Secret Key #3
Now that you’ve identified the things that bring you joy & created more opportunities to enjoy these little moments of joy in your daily routine, it’s time to deal with the rest. Start again and make a list of all the things that drain your energy & find ways to delegate, deal with, or let go of the rest of these things. You’ll find a great sense of peace & joy in bringing awareness to these things and then learning how to process, delegate, or just let go of the things you cannot control & focus on the things that you can control - like those little moments of joy you’re creating each day!
