Let’s talk about the power of journaling & the power of writing things down... I’ve been practicing the self-care habit of daily journaling consistently for the past 7 years. Some of you may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of having to journal every single day, and that’s okay. When it comes to journaling for self-care, there is no right or wrong way to do it. In today’s blog & video episode, I’m going to share 3 practical tips to begin the self care practice of using journaling to better process your emotional health & improve your overall wellbeing.
3 Self Care Tips to Use Journaling to Improve Your Emotional Health
TIP #1 You Don’t Need to Journal Every Day
While there are numerous health benefits of daily journaling, you may feel stressed out &overwhelmed by the thought of “needing to” journal every single day. That’s the opposite of the goal we are trying to achieve with self care journaling, so start small and give yourself the space to find a routine that works best for you.
TIP #2 Use a Journal With Prompts
I really love the Inner Guide journals because it gives me daily prompts to get my mind processing that day & becoming more aware of my emotional health. If you don’t have access to these journals, don’t let this stop you. A blank page can be a great place to start & begin a free writing process where you simply write everything that comes to your mind. Hint: You don’t even need to read to or keep it when you're done, but this process will help bring deeper awareness to your emotional state & overall wellbeing.
#3 Keep It Simple With Gratitude + Goals
Optionally, you can use your journal as a goal setting or gratitude practice. Simply begin each day by writing out 5 big goals for your life in the past tense as if they have already happened. Or simply list 10 things you are grateful for each night before going to bed.
