Strive to be a better version of who you were yesterday.
A lack of clarity can kill productivity. When you don’t have a clear mind, it’s impossible to get a clear idea of what you need to get done. By taking control of your day – your routine, your goals – you can then determine what can best be done by the people around you.
Delegating isn’t easy. We’ve always heard that to have something done right, you have to do it yourself, right? But when you command your own schedule, you’re empowered to have others working toward a common goal.
5 Steps to Setting Your Daily Schedule (& Being Able to Delegate More Effectively)
Here’s how to master your own routine, goals and schedule to give you clarity to delegate tasks to a team.
STEP #1 Create a daily routine and stick to it.
Discipline creates habits. Decide what environment you need to create a Daily Routine that saves your willpower + calls action out of you. Discipline is the stage before habit kicks in, and then what used to feel challenging becomes your new normal. Know what you will say NO to.
STEP #2 Set manageable goals.
These days, small wins should be celebrated. Trying to do too much at once can make you feel defeated, so set goals that are easy to measure and can be checked off in a reasonable amount of time. Give yourself a deadline, write it down in present tense, and stick to it. Push yourself, but in an achievable way.
STEP #3 Be consistent.
Right now, it’s easier than ever to let habits fall by the wayside and fall out of routines. Stay on top of your routine regardless of how tempting it is to let it go. To be successful, you have to stay at it everyday. Being consistent is key – to stick to your routine, record the actions you want to accomplish each week and keep track of our progress.
STEP #4 Reflect regularly.
It’s important to take stock of what’s working and what’s not on a weekly basis. Reflect on the biggest challenges and successes to keep track of your growth.
STEP #5 Set the scene.
Productivity and clarity start in a clean and conducive setting. Before you get to work, your space needs to reflect your best state of mind. Here are my tips:
Surround yourself with life by bringing in green plants and fresh flowers.
Diffuse your favorite essential oils. Mine are peppermint, wild orange, rosemary and frankincense.
Keep your desk clean, your computer desktop clear and find an option to stand throughout the day.
Work near a window if you can. If you can’t, a salt lamp will set the atmosphere.
Set up speakers to listen to low-key music or a podcast.
Set up an alarm clock to help you keep to your deadlines.
Get your tools: pens, notepads, lip balm, essential oils, sticky notes, your calendar and planner – all things that should get you excited to work.
Remember to stay hydrated. Keep a large bottle of water at your desk and add some of your favorite citrus oil.
Once you have peace of mind in your workspace, you’ll be amazed at how much you can get done, and how much you’re able to delegate.
