This may require you to spend more time in silence that you are accustomed to, but this builds the pivotal foundation for living an intentional life that brings more joy and less overwhelm to your everyday life. 3 Steps to Spending Time in Silence
(+ What to Do With Negative Thoughts & Emotions)
Creating little moments of silence and time alone with yourself during the day, especially to begin each new day, is a great way to shift your mindset from one of negative thoughts & emotions filled with everyday stress to living an intentionally crafted life that brings joy & gratitude to even your most stressful days.
STEP #1 Create Moments of Silence in Your Daily Routine
Whether you spend 5 minutes to yourself laying in bed before you wake up or simply be more intentional with your morning routine, crafting a daily habit of the time and pace you check in with yourself will allow you the opportunity to begin listening to your thoughts & emotions on a regular basis. Try going for a 10 minute walk over your lunch break or diffusing your favorite essential oils while you get ready for the day each morning to create a daily ritual and routine that reminds you to check in with your thoughts & emotions regularly.
STEP #2 Work Through the Negative Thoughts & Emotions
Don’t let the fear of discovering negative thoughts & emotions keep you from spending time in silence. Simply recognizing these negative thoughts & emotions is progress towards crafting a more intentional, joyful life. Be proud of that awareness & take the time to work through & release the negativity before replacing those thoughts with more productive, gratitude-focused thoughts and emotions.
STEP #3 Shift Your Mindset to Gratitude
Once you’ve released the negative thoughts & emotions, take a moment to shift your mindset to one of joy & gratitude. As you’re working through the various thoughts & emotions that come up during your time in silence, continually shift your mindset to embrace a process of continual growth without judgment and recognize the gift that it is to be able to regain control over your thoughts & emotions at any given moment and begin living into that happier & healthier life you’re creating every day.
