Forgiveness opens the path to greater freedom. The busier we are, and the harder we push ourselves to achieve our next big goal… & the easier it is to forget to stop and appreciate what we already have in front of us. That’s right – when you’re preoccupied by what’s to come, you fail to be grateful for what you’ve earned.
Gratitude is essential to keeping us grounded. Without gratitude, negativity can creep in. Why don’t I have what someone else has? When will I ever reach my goals? These thoughts prevent us from being grateful, and instead keep us jealous and bitter. Taking a moment each day to be grateful for everything that’s happening in your life, and everything you have will give you the positivity you need to keep moving forward.
If you’re not yet convinced, listen to the experts. In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
3 Steps Daily Gratitude Practice to Feel Happier & Healthier
Start now by doing a gratitude exercise.
STEP #1 Ask yourself: What am I grateful for?
Ask yourself: What am I grateful for? Write down the first thing that comes to mind, then ask yourself again. Then, think of another thing that’s important to you and make you happy. Stop after five minutes, or when you get stuck.
STEP #2 Set Timer for 5 Minutes & Reflect on Your List
For another five minutes, close your eyes and reflect on everything you just thought about that makes you feel grateful. (Hint: set a timer to give yourself enough time to get out of your own head and into your thoughts.) And if you have handy get your Frankincense out to apply to your temples and back of your head to provide an overall calm and grounded space.
STEP #3 Remember Not to Judge Yourself for Your Responses
Remember not to judge yourself or your responses. If you keep at it and do this regularly, what you’re grateful for should reflect your immediate surroundings. That means they can be as deep or as superficial as whatever you’re feeling that day. You might be grateful for your family as well as your coffee maker. There’s no wrong answer, just gratitude.
Here are a few things I’m grateful for to help spark your ideas:
👉 I am grateful for my health, which allows me to do so many things.
👉 I am grateful for my mom, teaching me the importance of confidence, being present, and the importance of my health.
👉 I am grateful for my kids, who teach me to be more loving and a better person.
👉I am grateful for my car that allows me to get me to the places I need to go more smoothly.
👉 I am grateful for my husband who loves me even when I am hard to love.
👉 I am grateful for my Doterra essential oils and vitamins, so I can feel and be my best self.
You get the idea – just take five minutes to think these kinds of gracious thoughts. This will change your mindset to be more open and thankful. It may also allow you to see your priorities in a different light, too.

Remember approach to health is holistic. Every aspect of one’s life must be considered in order to thrive. A person’s health, nutrition, movement, environment, relationships, emotional health, and personal development are all connected and influence one another, which is why they need to be balanced. We can all thrive when we understand and appreciate the interconnection between our lives and our bodies. It often only takes a small change to have a huge impact on our well-being.
